We also have access to a central grate producer, around 30 machines covering 3, 4 and 5 axis capabilities.

We are capable of producing a quick-turnaround mould in just 3 days and can tackle large, complex moulds within a span of 2-4 weeks.

Quality inspection is a very important part of our process here at Coler, we are equipped with x-ray machines and spectrum material analysis to ensure a perfect part every time.

Our production facility follows ISO9001 & TS16949 processes to ensure quality throughout the whole pipeline.

As well as larger production runs, we can support small batch production and rapid prototyping runs. Providing technical suport, DFM and MF analysis if needed.

What is Die Casting?

Die casting is a metal casting process known for its ability to create complex, highly detailed, and precise metal parts. This manufacturing method involves the use of molten metal, which is forced into a mold cavity under high pressure. Die casting is widely utilised in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, electronics, and consumer goods.

The process of die casting starts with the preparation of two mold halves, typically made from hardened steel. These molds are designed to create the desired shape of the final part, and they include a cavity that corresponds to the part's shape and features.

Next, the chosen metal alloy is heated to its liquid state in a furnace. Once molten, it is injected into the mold cavity at high pressure using a machine called a die casting machine. The application of pressure ensures that the molten metal fills the mold cavity completely, resulting in a part with consistent properties.

As the molten metal is injected into the mold, it begins to cool and solidify within the cavity. The cooling process is carefully controlled to prevent defects and to achieve the desired material properties in the final part.

After solidification, the two mold halves are separated, and the newly formed part is ejected from the mold. Ejection may involve the use of ejector pins or other mechanisms to facilitate the release of the part.

Once the part is removed from the mold, it may require further processing. Trimming and finishing processes, such as cutting, machining, or deburring, are performed to achieve the final shape and a smooth surface finish for the part.
