Coler runs four finishing processes, and most parts we make pass through at least one of them before they ship. We quote the finish with the part rather than sending it out to a third supplier afterwards, so the lead time you get covers the finished component.
Anodising builds a hard oxide layer on aluminium in clear or colour. It is the usual choice for extruded profiles and machined parts that need corrosion and wear resistance without adding measurable thickness. We anodise to a set film thickness and test it before the batch moves on.
Sandblasting strips scale, rust and old coatings, and leaves a keyed surface for paint or plating. We run it as a preparation step on fabricated work and as a finish in its own right where the drawing calls for an even matt texture.
Metal electroplating puts zinc, nickel or chrome onto steel, brass and cast parts, for corrosion protection or appearance. Coverage on complex geometry is where plating fails, so we rack and test rather than assume.
Plating on plastic gives moulded ABS and similar substrates a metallic finish. It follows on from injection moulding, and running both with one supplier removes the handover where adhesion problems start.
Send a drawing or a sample with the finish you need, and we will come back with a price and a lead time for the finished part.
Finishing runs on our own product lines as well as customer parts. P clips and P clamps get rubber lining and plating, and T bolts and T nuts get zinc or GeoMet before they ship.
